Wentworth is a village of old stone cottages and houses, many with slate or stone roofs and tall chimneys. Roofs like these need matching materials and a light touch, so I always try to repair and reuse what's there before replacing it. Parts of the village are a conservation area, so some work may need permission from the council. If I think your job might, I'll tell you at the survey so you can check before anything starts. I refix and replace them with matching slate. ### Weathered stone chimneys Tall stone stacks lose their pointing and flashing over the years. I repoint with the right mortar for the stone, often lime, and renew flashing. ### Moss and blocked gutters With so many trees around the village, roofs and gutters collect moss and leaves. I clear them and check for damage underneath.
